Located in Eisenerz, the mountain city in the historic region of Styria, the Austrian Postal and Telegraph Museum awaits you. The museum is housed in the historical premises of the Kammerhof and, as early as the 19th century, it captivated its guests when it served as a hunting lodge for Emperor Franz Joseph I. Today, it offers its visitors exciting, lovingly designed, and comprehensive insights into the postal and telegraph services from the imperial era to the present.

Special exhibition: a stamp journey through all UN member states
Since 27 April 2025, this year's special exhibition A Stamp Journey Through All UN Member States has been on display at the Post and Telegraph Museum in Eisenerz. The exhibition offers a fascinating cross-section of United Nations member states – represented through postage stamps. In addition, stamps from countries that are recognised by at least one UN member state are also included.
The focus is not on the most valuable stamps, but rather on those that are typical or particularly distinctive for each country. Each exhibit is accompanied by key historical facts about the country, providing context for the stamp on display.
The aim of the exhibition is to highlight each country's relationship with mail delivery. The stamps are not merely collectors’ items but also reflect the country’s connection to postal services and the associated postage rates. Especially intriguing and unusual exhibits are also on show.
The monetary value of the stamps plays only a minor role – the emphasis lies on their functional and historical significance. The exhibition also explores how errors affect the value of stamps for collectors, along with relevant aspects of postal history.
As stamps are a particularly ephemeral form of cultural heritage, this unique exhibition will be on display for this year only – from April until 31 October 2025 at the Post and Telegraph Museum in Eisenerz.
Our dedicated children’s post office shows how telecommunications worked before the advent of mobile phones and the internet. Our little visitors will get a realistic idea of this era unknown to them.
In our old-school postal cinema, you can watch films that document the past 100 years of Austrian postal and telegraphy history.
